Author: Melissa Foster
Publisher: World Literary Press
Date of publication: November 2016

TRUMAN "TRU" GRITT is one hard-ass, loyal bastard. There's nothing he won't do to protect his family--Including spending a decade in jail for a crime he didn't commit. When he's finally released, the life he knew is turned upside down by his mother's overdose, and Tru steps in to raise the children she's left behind. Tru's hard, he's damaged, and he's trying to save a brother who's even more broken than he is. He's never needed help in his life, and when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he's less than accepting. But Gemma has a way of slithering into people's lives and eventually she pierces through his ironclad heart. When Tru's dark past collides with his future, his loyalties will be tested, and he'll be faced with his toughest decision yet.

I have read a few of Ms. Foster's books in the past and really enjoyed them. So, I wasn't surprised when I ended up loving Tru Blue.  Truman has been out of prison for 6 months when he finds out his drug addicted mother has just OD'd leaving two more kids who are babies.  Truman decides he won't let them grow up without love and takes them in.  He meets Gemma in the store and the rest is history.

The book really doesn't have much love angst.  In fact, that part is pretty easy and smooth.  Yes, the relationship is fast and super sweet, but that is why I read romance.  To watch two people fall into sappy, goofy love and have a HEA.  The angst comes in the heartbreaking story behind both Truman and Gemma's childhoods.  Neither had the love they deserved or wanted. Both are still struggling. I loved how Truman kept doing things for Gemma that she never got to do growing up.  That sheet fort was too cute.   My heart broke over Truman's struggle with is brother's addiction and the secret they both hold.  I don't want to spoil much, but just say that I highly recommend this story where two babies bring two broken hearts together for a HEA that will make you sigh.
